Thailand.....Day 8

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Today was our last day of mobile clinics.  We were working again with the church from yesterday.  Today they had us come to their church and set up there.  We saw almost all kids today!  Most of the kids were from the children's outreach that the church has been doing.  Some were bussed in from "the slums".  We did see some adults as well from the local area.

The 2 boys on the left are brothers- ages 7 & 8.  They are orphans.  They love with their Aunt during the week, but she doesn't have enough money to care for them all the time, so on the weekend, they go stay here at the church.  The people that live/work here care for them and give them little jobs to do to earn their keep.  These 2 were the sweetest most loving boys!  They totally made me think of my little guys back home!

These little girls were so cute!  They kept wanting me to take their pictures and then this little one took my camera and started taking her own pictures!

Amanda was totally in her element today with the kids!  She played and did crafts the whole day.

Our debriefing.  Again- it was so neat to hear the stories of the Thai Christians.  The people that came today had very open hearts and were pretty responsive.  About 15 or 20 people wanted to have the Pastor come visit them to tell them more, and 6 accepted Christ today.  I think God is working through the children to bring their parents to Him!  We were able to donate some money to this pastor to help care for these orphans.  He was very grateful.  It was a really great day and we saw alot of the work God is doing here.

The local Pastor & Thow- a youth pastor in the church and a very nice young man who taught me several Thai words.

After the clinic we started driving back towards Bangkla.

What a nice looking group!

The drivers had decided to split up the driving day because the 14 hours was just too long. So we drove about 4-5 hours today and then stayed in a hotel somewhere along the way.  I have no idea where we were because I never looked at a map.

On the drive we passed by a Thai Market place.  The Thais in our group really wanted to stop, so we went along.  This was a TRUE Thai market- raw meat and fish, dead baby cows,  cooked bugs, flies all over, and things that I don't even know what they were!  A few pics:

It was a neat cultural experience......and NO, I did not eat the bugs!
