Thailand.....Day 5

Monday, October 24, 2011

Today was a LONG driving day!  We left Bangkla at 6:15am and drove to Chaing Mai.  We arrived at 8:30pm.  We did 4 potty break stops and 2 meal break stops.  Not too bad!  It usually takes 11 hours to get to Chaing Mai, but because of the flooding, we went a long way around and that is why it took so much longer.  It was worth it though- we had clear roads, no signs of the flooding, and traffic was not bad.  OK...well traffic is always a little crazy here!

Doug drove the whole way there.  The roads are like England- where you drive on the other side and steering wheels are on the other side of the vehicle.

We had a lot of fun on the ride.  We sang old songs from bible schools, talked, laughed, napped, and ate.  It was a great time for us to bond as a team.

We are staying in a really nice hotel in Chaing Mai called "The Park".  Two of the women in our group are online teachers and so we had to stay somewhere with wi-fi.  So it worked out well as we ended up in a nice place!

After we unloaded, we headed down near the street market to eat at Burger King!  Funny!  I was not very hungry and just nibbled on a Whopper.  We headed back to the room, showered and I tried to call my family on Skype, only to realize that the wi-fi for the hotel does not support any apple devices, so my ipad won't get Internet here!  :(  I am typing this on a friends lap-top, so I may not be able to update every day as I had hoped!

That's about it for today!  Clinics start tomorrow!
