Hawaii- Polynesian Cultural Center- Day 6

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Today we got up around 7:00am, loaded up the car, and headed off to IHOP for breakfast.  We returned our rental car and went to the airport in Hilo for our flight to Honolulu, Oahu.  Once we arrived and waited over an hour for our new rental car, we headed up the eastern coast of Oahu and to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The Polynesian Cultural Center offers a glimpse into native life in the South Pacific.  They have a large area set up like the individual islands.  Each area offers activities, crafts, and entertainment.  We arrived pretty late in the day, about 3:30 and the Villages closed around 5:30.   We were able to take a boat ride and see all the villages from the water.  After that, we went around to several different villages and explored the place.

We played games.

Went fishing.

Learned to dance some Hula.

Threw spears and weaved fish.

Learned to play some coconut drums.

Watched this guy climb a coconut tree!

Make fire.

As we were finishing up our whirlwind villages tour, we got calls from Bob & Sally and Jim & Rochelle.  They had arrived and would be meeting us over at the Luau.  We headed over to the Hale Ohana Luau.

We came across these cute little baby kittens near the Luau.  They were so sweet!

After dinner, we hung out for a bit and then headed over to watch the "Ha" show.  This was a neat music and dance show with traditional Hawaiian dances- including a fire show!  It was pretty good and we enjoyed it.  No pictures were allowed in the theater.

Once we were done we headed back down to the Waikiki area and checked into our hotel/condo. We all fell asleep pretty quickly from our long and fun day!
