On President's Day we decided to take a day trip to visit Montezuma's Castle. We left in the morning and headed up north. We arrived and spent some time visiting the museum.
Then we headed out on the trail to see the ruins.
It was so amazing! We spent some time reading the signs on the trail and imagining what life was like for the tribe that built this and lived here.
We ate a picnic lunch by the river.

We headed down the road about 10 miles to Montezuma's Well.
This is a natural spring that produces water from underground at a constant rate and temperature. The ancient tribes built extensive irrigation canals to water their crops.

This was a really interesting and fun day! I enjoyed learning more about the early Indian civilizations and seeing some of Arizona's history.
